Default Graphics an issue?

Whilst playing NF there are two portals that I can't run through into the next area of the game - the one from Wehhan Terraces to Yahtendi Canyons and the one from Honur Hill into Resplendant Makuun. Both times GW will freeze on the loading screen and when exiting the programme I'll get an error message about the graphics. Now I'm fully aware that this could be to do with the graphics card that my computer has (its a pile of rubbish) but why does it do that with only those two portals? And yet I'm able to enter both of those areas via other means and even able to enter the outposts from the other side of the portals with no problems encountered. Can anybody tell me why this is or what I can do about it? Or is the problem with my graphics card alone and should i just replace it?

Ok Firstly, try to contact Guild Wars Technical Support, tell them what the error is, write it down or take a screen shot of that error code. Also give them your system spec as well, cpu, graphic etc.

Secondly, does it happen before or just recently? The server does go down from time to time, hence you can't leave the town or go to the guildhall.

Let us know how you're getting on (oh! this should be in Tech Q&A btw)

If you have an intel intergrated card thingy (or whatever the notes say) then that'll be your problem.

oh im so so glad someone else is having this problem! I thought it was only me! Those are the only two portals I can't acces, and I really want to get farther in NF. I think it probably is my graphics card, and I looked on the page Mcmullen linked and it said how to fix it, however I am so computer-challenged I would really appreciate it if someone could post how to fix this problem in simpler terms. I know it isnt a bug, as all my guildmates could do it and it has been going on for a while.

I looked on the computer and it says I have this:
Intel(R) Premium(R) M Processor 1.70 GHz, 1.69 GHz, 0.99 GB of RAM
I also know that I have directx8 installed instead of 9, but that's never been a problem except for the post-process effects when I can't see drunkeness. I would really appreciate help!

Cheers guys, I appreciate all the help, and krichter - I feel so much better that its not just me too! (btw, I solved the problem of getting out of Yahtendi Canyons by using my flatmates computer, but its possible to go through Dzagonur Bastion and then the portal from the Wilderness of Bahdza to Resplendant Makuun if you manage to get past the first problem - so you might like to try that.)
Thanks for the wiki link McMullen - I hadn't noticed that before and it makes me feel better!
It seems to be a constant problem for me, and its just those two portals...but I'll take your advice Etta and contact GW Tech Support and see how it goes.

Default Easy easy fix

I have the same problem. And the solution is sooooo simple and easy. You don't need to re-install.

There's a different lighting effect or something like that in both those explorable areas that some Intel graphics cards can't deal with. All you have to do is open gw.exe from 3DAnalyze (freeware) to go into to those two areas (as mentioned in the thread McMullen linked to). There's a lot of really helpful information in that thread, but here's the short version:

D/l 3DAnalyze from http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/emutnl.htm. Make sure the screen looks like the jpg here ---> http://www.ixtlanstudios.com/webimages/GW.jpg. And then click on "Run"... VOILA... problem solved.

you may not want to run the entire game with 3dfx on tho...or atleast I didn't so I created the batch program and would log out and back in if I ever needed to go to those areas again....for some reason the 3dfx creates a green "spot" on my screen and it bugs me :P ....although not running it all the time sucks if you forget and party with someone to do something in one of those areas and forget to switch out :O

Hi Krichter...

When you click on 'Select' it puts you in browse mode. On your C drive you want to click on the Program files folder, then on the Guild Wars folders, then the gw.exe file inside that folder. If you have all the same boxes checked as in the jpg, then just click Run, and it should open guild wars and you will be able to stroll on out into those areas without crashing.

Btw, Coridan makes a very good point about not running 3DAnalyze all the time. I personally just use it for those two areas and no other time.

I'm at work now... will be home in about two hours, and I can walk you through it if you don't have it working by then.

EDIT: YAY! Just read your edit. And I'm happy you're happy.
